Sick and Tired

I’d been so looking forward to this long weekend. In my mind, it was going to go like this:

  1. Friday morning: Take E’s tough Vinyasa class that I never get to attend because of my whole “day job” thing.
  2. Friday afternoon: Cleaning spree!
  3. Saturday morning: Take a class, sub a class
  4. Saturday afternoon, evening: Luxuriate in clean house. Do little else.
  5. Sunday morning: Christmas brunch with friends!
  6. Sunday afternoon: Christmas dinner with the fam!
  7. Monday: Luxuriate, take another class that work would normally preclude.

Instead it’s been like this:

  1. Friday morning: Take class. Nearly pass out. Get queasy, dizzy, briefly consider vomiting. Decide not to throw up in the very full room that includes two other teachers and the studio owner.
  2. Friday afternoon: Sleep. Don’t even change out of nasty yoga clothes. Briefly consider dying.
  3. Saturday morning: Awake feeling great! Take class, resume feeling of impending death 25 minutes in. Spend closing series in savasana and savasana fetal and shivering, wrapped in mat towel for warmth. Proceed to teach class, during which students are subjected to frequent and lengthy down dogs that allow for brief periods sitting on the windowsill fighting back dizziness.
  4. Saturday afternoon, evening: Luxuriate in Boyfriend’s pity. Do little else.
  5. Sunday morning: Proceed as planned. Take it easy on the champagne.
  6. Sunday afternoon: Proceed as planned. Take it easy on dessert.
  7. Monday: Finally clean the house. Skip class out of stone cold fear. Nap unrepentantly.

Oh well. I’ll get another holiday weekend in a mere five months. I smell Memorial Day Do-Over!
