Foot-In-Mouth Disease

May 3, 2012

I don’t often talk shop outside of work, but I do feel compelled to tell the world when I do something extra stupid. Here goes:

In a meeting today, the conversation turned to Boss’ new country home and the bounty of astronomical bodies visible in the rural night sky. Boss said she could see not only stars but planets. Coworker reported having a telescope. Coworker made an inaccurate inventory of the ringed planets within our own solar system. Then, without thinking, I refuted one of his claims with this gem:

“There are definitely rings around Uranus.”

Proving once again that you can be right and still look like Uranus.
